Gaming software giant Playtech has launched an expanded bingo platform in Italy, in line with the updated PBAD3 protocol recently introduced by regulators.

Currently available through the Sisal, Snai and William Hill brands, more launches are scheduled for the coming months.

Launched last month, the updated protocol allows operators to offer online bingo variants. Playtech can now deliver new bingo variants, specifically tailored to the needs of Italian players, while also replicating its international offering for the Italian audience.

Previously the protocol stopped operators from offering the same range and flexibility of gaming products in Italy that could be offered in other markets.

Angus Nisbet, managing director of digital bingo at Playtech, said: “Becoming the first platform in Italy to make the most of the updated protocol is a significant moment in developing our offer in what is an important market.

“The speed with which we have been able to expand our offering in Italy reflects our commitment to growing and building our offering in new and existing regulated markets.”

The updated offering includes the two-line prize and 75-ball UK bingo, as well as other new variants that are compliant with the PBAD3 protocol. Playtech will also be able to introduce additional features on a wider variety of platforms, including HMTL5 desktop, mobile and tablet clients, along with native iOS and Android apps.
