Dead or Alive II, NetEnt‘s sequel to the original 2013 slot, has been named the UK’s most successful title of 2019 by data-driven analytics platform SlotCatalog.

Announcing the run-down of top slots, SlotCatalog said it has scanned 826 UK online casinos, with “the 189 most popular casinos selected to be included in the data set”.

The data includes games that were released between January 1 and December 31, 2019, with “the average SlotRank metric based on the games rank between day 60 and day 90 after their release date”.

Topping the charts was NetEnt’s blockbuster sequel, followed by Blueprint Gaming‘s Eye of Horus Megaways and NetEnt’s Mercy of the Gods. The top five was completed with a hat-trick for NetEnt, with Scudamore’s Super Stakes and, in fifth, Red Tiger, with Pirates’ Plenty Battle for Gold.

The full top 10 can be seen below, along with the SlotRank score based on UK online casino lobby position in the defined period.

Commenting on the chart-topping Dead or Alive II, SlotCatalog said: “NetEnt’s highly anticipated sequel to the cult status game Dead or Alive hit all markets with a bang!

“The game quickly landed top positions in most major casino lobbies at the time of the release. Released in April, players enjoyed amazing gameplay, pristine visuals and perfectly matched soundtrack.

“The expectations on the release were huge, and this time the NetEnt team scored a home-run and landed above the players’ expectations.”

Released much later in the year – not until mid-October – in second spot, Blueprint’s Eye of Horus Megaways deployed the all-conquering Big Time Gaming slot mechanic to great effect. “The popularity of the Megaways technology has grown even stronger in the UK throughout 2019,” said SlotCatalog, “but few have managed to use the technology in such a convincing manner as Blueprint.

“They have delivered a flawless game by combining the all-time favourite classic slot title with the Megaways mechanics. Since the release on October 18, players have jumped at the possibility to enter the free spins mode with unlimited extra spins.”

Completing the medal positions, NetEnt’s Mercy of the Gods was praised for the quality of its base game. “The highly volatile slot quickly became a player favourite thanks to the possibility to win big – but a big part of the game’s success was that NetEnt managed to make the base game very interesting.

“The success was quickly reflected in the casino lobbies as the game claimed good positions worldwide, and managed to keep a lot of these positions long after the release.”
