The UK Gambling Commission has established an Industry Forum that will feature members of the gambling industry and will offer insight into the views of operators.
The Forum will sit alongside other initiatives and advisory groups – such as the Lived Experience Advisory Panel, the Advisory Board for Safer Gambling and the Digital Advisory Panel – in assisting the UKGC with evidence-led work.
It will also support the Commission’s consumer research, relationships with international regulators, and its involvement with consumer insight organisations to gain a variety of gambling and regulation insights.
Industry views on account management, consultations and the Commission’s data programme will also be shared by the Forum.
“We’ve always listened to the views of the industry when deciding how best to make progress but this new forum will give us another way to work with representatives from the industry we regulate,” commented Marcus Boyle, Commission Chair.
Recruitment of a Chair of the Forum has already begun, and the selected individual will serve a three-year term alongside around 10 other members from across gambling sectors who can provide knowledge, challenges and opportunities the industry faces.
The UKGC will also invite members of the industry to express their interest in joining the Forum.
The commission also recently provided further clarity on gambling financial risk checks, with CEO Andrew Rhodes publishing a blog post and video addressing the “misunderstandings around financial risk checks and what they really mean”, answering questions to “clarify the most frequent misconceptions”.
