Finnplay, the Finland-based open gaming platform provider, has been awarded a Class II licence to operate in the regulated Romanian market.

The licence, granted by the Romanian National Gambling Office, the ONJN, means Finnplay can offer its Billfold platform services to holders of Class 1 Operating Licences in the country.

Martin Prantner, the chief executive officer of The Finnplay Group, said: “We’re delighted to have passed the stringent criteria required to supply operators in the fast-growing regulated Romanian market and are looking forward to offering our handcrafted technology to existing Romanian operators or those brands looking to enter the igaming market.

“This is a further stepping stone for our business strategy of continued regulatory technical compliance and growth opportunities in which we can offer our customers an all-inclusive, serviced gaming platform for regulated EU markets, including the UK, Malta, Denmark and now Romania, with a full array of licensed products across the entire igaming spectrum.”

COMMENT: So Finnplay throws its hat into the Romanian ring in a bid for a slice of eastern Europe’s newest market, hot on the heels of recent entries for BetConstruct, Betsoft and Greentube. It remains to be seen just how fruitful an igaming market Romania will be and until comprehensive data is available, it’s hard to judge any entrance into the country.
