MGE striving to establish Project Inspire as Asian entertainment hub

Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment has deepened its relationship with Live Nation Entertainment, as the development of its five billion dollar Project Inspire progresses towards a 2021 projected grand opening.

The Uncasville, Connecticut headquartered organisation has secured a new multi-year deal alongside the firm, with MGE striving to ensure its South Korean development as one of the world’s premier integrated entertainment resorts.

A “first-of-its-kind” destination, Project Inspire is to feature a three-tower luxury hotel, as well as premier shopping, gaming and entertainment amenities, including a 15,000-seat indoor arena and outdoor performance space.

Mario Kontomerkos, CEO of Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, said of the link-up: “Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment and Live Nation have been long-time partners in creating one of the most successful arena venues in the world for its size, the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

“Now, we are partnering again to do the same, only this time it will be at the Inspire Super Arena at the Incheon International Airport, right in the heart of the burgeoning Northern Asia entertainment market.

“The move further solidifies MGE’s position as the premier global gaming and entertainment resort developer and operator.”

MGE’s flagship Mohegan Sun property, located in its home city, has enjoyed a partnership with Live Nation since 2001, relating to its 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena.

It is hoped that via this enhanced agreement, Project Inspire venues can attract “the very best global talent” and become the region’s “most exciting entertainment experience”.

Tom Cantone, SSVP of sports and entertainment at MGE, commented: “This is an exciting time for our industry in Northern Asia, our exclusive partnership with Live Nation Asia will further expand Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment into the global entertainment market.

“In partnership with Live Nation, our Inspire property is guaranteed to be the number one destination for guests and fans to embrace our incredible shows and must-see concerts.”

“We have been thrilled by the success of what Live Nation and Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment have built together through the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, and are excited to continue this partnership through Project Inspire,” added Alan Ridgeway, Live Nation’s president of international and emerging markets. “Touring throughout Northern Asia has grown significantly over the last few years, and the addition of the Inspire Super Arena can only continue to enhance that growth.”
