Currently, GambleAware asks all those who profit from gambling in Britain to donate a minimum of 0.1 per cent of their gross gambling yield annually directly to the charity under guidance issued by the UK Gambling Commission

Money donated to the charity will go towards activities which are delivered against its four commissioning objectives and is “supportive of a collaborative, whole-system approach to the prevention of gambling harms”.

The £10.6m received includes increased contribution levels from operators who committed to raise the percentage of GGY they donate from 0.1 per cent in increments to one per cent by 2023. The operators’ pledged percentage contribution this year is 0.5 per cent of GGY.

Moreover, additional donations were made by One Click and STS.Bet, making donations of £22,800.91 and £22,000 respectively.

The list also highlighted that within the regulatory process, licenced operators may offer to make donations to socially responsible causes as part of a regulatory settlement with the Gambling Commission.

In Q1 and Q2 of this year, GambleAware did not receive any funds towards its work under the terms of such agreement.
