Thunderkick has laid out plans to enter the North American igaming market after gaining a licence to supply its content portfolio in Ontario.

Upon obtaining a provisional licence for the Canadian province, Thunderkick will be able to offer slot releases to operators across Ontario, forming new commercial deals as part of its ‘long-term growth strategy’.

Svante Sahlström, Chief Commercial Officer at Thunderkick, commented: “Ontario is likely to be a significant strategic move for us this year, and I think we’ll also look back on it as an important marker in the company’s development in years to come.”

Online casino players in Ontario can expect to find Thunderkick titles such as Hellapeños, Esqueleto Explosivo 2 and games from the Beat the Beast series in online casino lobbies facing Ontario once the studio forms partnerships in the province.

The game’s upcoming slot release, 12 Bolts of Thunder, will also become available to Ontarian players after it is distributed to the studio’s operator partners next week.

The move sees Thunderkick broaden its reach from Europe for the first time, having built an established presence in Italy, Portugal and its home nation of Sweden.

Sahiström added: “Thunderkick is compliance ready and we’re confident we’ll soon be able to showcase our games to lots of new Canadian players. We have a strong long-term vision for expansion as a whole and are excited to follow those in the months to come.”

Earlier this month, Sahiström was appointed as CCO at Thunderkick to help the studio enhance its position in new markets, with the Ontarian entry seen as a focal point for his arrival.

Sven Grip, Thunderkick CEO, explained: “Sahiström joins Thunderkick at an extremely exciting time, with entry into Ontario on the horizon alongside substantial growth worldwide. We’re in a fantastic position to keep rising, and Svante is sure to play a pivotal part in taking us to the next level.”
