Best Bet Toledo vs. Miami: Against the Spread
Miami +4.5 (-112 at DraftKings)
Miami’s coming off a 24-20 loss to Ohio, which we correctly predicted last week. QB Dequan Finn threw for 194 yards and two TDs in a losing cause. Finn, who was previously a standout quarterback at Toledo, is a dual threat with 1,451 passing yards and 395 rushing yards on the season.
The loss to Ohio snapped Miami’s five-game winning streak. Prior to that, the RedHawks started the season 0-3. Still, Miami remains in position to reach its third consecutive MAC Championship Game.
Keep an eye on two skill players for Miami tonight. WR Cole Weaver has 15 catches for 190 yards over the last two games. RB Jordan Brunson leads the RedHawks with 444 rushing yards on the year. This is a balanced offense under the direction of Finn.
As for Toledo, look for Gleason to target WR Junior Vandeross III early and often. Vandeross leads the MAC with nine touchdown catches and ranks second in catches (58) and receiving yards (705). Lead RB Chip Trayanum averages 91 yards per game and 5.6 per tote.
The Rockets average 32.9 points and 437.2 yards per game. Defensively, Toledo is even better. It ranks ninth nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 14.6 points per game.
Unfortunately, the win-loss record doesn’t reflect those stats. Toledo has yet to win a road game this season, going 0-4 as the visitor. The home-road splits are telling. Toledo has outscored opponents 237-37 at the Glass Bowl. Check out the results on home turf:
- 5-0 record
- 47.4 points per game
- 520 yards per game
Conversely, Toledo averages just 14.8 points and 334 yards per game on the road and remains winless.
Give us Miami as a live home dog tonight at Yanger Stadium.
Best Player Prop for Miami Redhawks
Dequan Finn Anytime TD Scorer (+180)
With Finn facing his former team, expect him to put on a show tonight. He’s the team’s second leading rusher, and he’s also got four rushing TDs this season.
Finn has also hit paydirt in two of his last three games. This is a nice price, too.
Best Player Prop for Toledo Rockets
Junior Vandeross III Anytime TD Scorer (-120)
Vandeross is a scoring machine. He’s had a touchdown catch in each of his last three games and four out of the last five. It’s surprising to see his odds this low, given he leads the MAC in receiving TDs with nine.
If you combine Finn and Vandeross to both score in a two-leg parlay, FanDuel was offering +411 odds at the time of publication. A $25 bet at +411 odds pays out a total of $127.75 (which includes a profit of $102.75 and your original $25 stake back).
