The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation has, with Brookfield Business Partners, completed the acquisition of gaming assets from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for CA$170m through a casino operating and services agreement.

The gaming operations, known collectively as the Greater Toronto Area – or GTA – bundle, comprise three facilities: OLG Slots at Woodbine, OLG Slots at Ajax Downs and Great Blue Heron Casino, which is located on the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation lands.

Under the terms of the agreement, the partnership has the exclusive right to operate the facilities for a minimum of 22 years.

In 2016, the three venues – home to more than 4,000 slot machines, 60 table games and employing more than 2,200 staff – generated revenue of more than CA$1bn.

The Great Canadian/Brookfield partnership said it intends to launch “an ambitious growth strategy to enhance the guest experience.”

This will include adding meeting and event facilities, hotels and premier entertainment venues.
