International Game Technology has appointed Lorenzo Pellicioli, formerly the vice chairperson, as chair of the IGT board, effective immediately.

Pellicioli has held the role of acting chairperson since the departure of Phil Satre in August.

Commenting on the appointment, Pellicioli said, “I am honoured to serve as chairperson for IGT and I look forward to working with the directors and senior management to guide continued success in the future.”

Pellicioli’s promotion sees James McCann move into the role as vice chairperson and lead independent director.

McCann has served on the board since 2015 and currently serves as the chair of the board’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

IGT, which has a market capitalisation of more than $3bn, recently sealed a new five-year contract with Penn Online Entertainment, relating to digital platform and content provisions for the Pennsylvanian market.

The subsidiary of Penn National Gaming’s Penn Interactive Ventures arm is to be boosted by the IGT PlayDigital division supplying its full suite of digital gaming products.

It is hoped that the PlayDigital solutions deployment for Penn National, within the newly regulated Pennsylvania online gaming market, is to be undertaken during the first quarter of next year.
