Pennsylvania is all set for the grand opening of its second sportsbook in the shape of Rivers Casino, following the lead of Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course which debuted its offering last month.
The Rush Street Gaming owned property is to debut Pittsburgh’s first sports wagering option today at 2pm local time (7pm GMT), with local media outlets reporting that Philadelphia’s SugarHouse Casino, which shares the same owner as Rivers, could be not too far behind its sister entity.
Rivers made the announcement of the opening, which is more of a two day Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board supervised testing phase, on its website: “The countdown is here to introduce the new Rivers Sportsbook! Join us Thursday at 2pm for the introductory period of the first sportsbook in western Pennsylvania! Our introductory period has limited hours, is open to the public and will be your first chance to place a live bet!”
Initial hours of operation are to be 2pm to midnight today and noon to 10pm tomorrow (Friday 14), with normal hours of operation beginning at the weekend pending PGCB approval.
This comes laced with particular significance given the casino’s close proximity to Heinz Field, where the Pittsburgh Steelers and to face off against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is to be overseen by Rivers’ general manager Bill Keena, alongside a selection of city officials.
Releasing further details of the sportsbook, Rivers, who like SugarHouse are utilising the power of Rush Street Interactive and Kambi, revealed: “Take in all of the action at the first Sportsbook in the Pittsburgh region! The Rivers Sportsbook features over ten TV’s to bet and cheer on your favourite sports teams.
