San Diego’s Sycuan Casino Resort has opened up its newly expanded $260m hotel and resort to the public, two years after breaking ground on the project.
Amongst the various upgrades is an expanded gaming area, with the newly enhanced casino floor now containing a total of 2,800 slot machines and 54 table games, offered in a variety of gaming options.
The property also boasts an enlarged 12-story luxury hotel tower complete with over 300 guest rooms and suites, new restaurants and bars, meeting and event space, a full-service spa and fitness centre and a pool and gardens area, with a number of cosmetic upgrades also having taken place.
Cody Martinez, chairman of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation, said of the upgrades: “Just two years ago, we broke ground and committed to becoming the premier gaming destination in San Diego County, and today we delivered on that promise.
“This project would not have been possible without the support and vision of the Sycuan people, our team members and the incredible construction effort by Swinerton Builders.
“This is a historic and momentous day for Sycuan, and we are extremely proud to see this one-of-a-kind project become a reality.”
Fresh off the back of being named the 2018 Business of the Year for Entertainment and Recreation by the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce, Sycuan Casino Resort has set its sights on becoming the stand-out establishment within the region, following the significant investment.
“We have undertaken a number of renovations and expansions over the years, but nothing that compares to the size and scope of this project,” added John Dinius, general manager at Sycuan Casino Resort.
“This significant $260M investment is an investment in Sycuan, but will also directly benefit East County in San Diego and set a new bar for gaming, entertainment and dining options available throughout the region.”
