Churchill Downs Incorporated is poised to deepen its US sports wagering footprint, after entering agreements for the provision of services in Indian and Colorado via a link-up with Full House Resorts.

Unveiling a definitive agreement alongside the Las Vegas headquartered casino developer and operator, it’s to see the provision of Churchill Downs’ BetAmerica Sportsbook at the Rising Star Casino Resort in Southern Indiana.

Full House is to operate a retail entity at the property, with a BetAmerica online sports betting platform also set to be deployed across the state, subject to the necessary gaming licence approvals.

Furthermore, the agreement is to also potentially see CDI offer retail and online sports wagering under the BetAmerica brand in Colorado, utilising Full House Resorts’ operating license for Bronco Billy’s Casino and Hotel in Cripple Creek.

This is subject to approval of legislation by Colorado residents, issuance of final regulations, and gaming license approvals, with a vote taking place this November on whether to ratify Colorado’s sports betting bill HB 19-1327.

“We believe our innovative, state-of-the-art products and deep experience as the leader in online horseracing wagering enable us to introduce a premier sports betting platform in Indiana,” stated Bill Carstanjen, CEO of CDI. “We look forward to the opportunity to provide our BetAmerica Sportsbook to the residents of Colorado in the future as well.”

Churchill Downs recently applied to construct a new $200m thoroughbred racing facility in Northern Kentucky, which would take winter race dates away from Turfway Park.

Proposing to conduct racing in January through March and in December 2020, phase one of the project include a historical racing machine facility featuring up to 1,500 machines, a clubhouse, food and beverage venues, one-mile synthetic main race track, inner dirt track and stabling facilities.

The application requests that NKYRG, a wholly owned subsidiary of CDI, be issued a racing license to conduct live racing, with the New Latonia Racing and Gaming entity to remain open year-round as a training facility.
