The Detroit Tigers has become the first Major League Baseball franchise to ink a partnership with a gambling firm after linking-up with PointsBet.
Under the terms of the agreement the global sportsbook becomes ‘Official Gaming Partner’ of the Tigers, with the announcement achievable after the firm’s recent agreement alongside the MLB.
The US sports league designated PointsBet as ‘Authorised Gaming Operator,’, and granted the group the rights to use official data along with marks and logos within PointsBet products.
“We are thrilled to welcome PointsBet as a gaming partner of the Detroit Tigers,” said Chris Granger, group president of sports and entertainment at Ilitch Holdings.
“Our incredible fans will love the unique experiences and innovative offerings that PointsBet’s personalized platform provides. We look forward to the fan-friendly enhancements this will bring to the game-day experience in and around Comerica Park for years to come.”
The multi-year partnership is designed to enhance fan engagement and game-day excitement by providing access to unique experiences, content, promotions and more, in and around Comerica Park.
PointsBet will have television broadcast-visible branding at Comerica Park and will be featured on the Detroit Tigers Radio Network, as well being integrated into The District Detroit app and the MLB Ballpark app.
Furthermore, the Australian firm will also have a sponsored presence on the Tigers’ digital platforms and be regularly featured on The Word on Woodward, a twice-weekly live streaming show that airs on the club’s channel.
