Player protection is set to be the central theme of the discussions when senior executives from some of igaming’s highest-profile companies gather for the Leadership track at this week’s CasinoBeats Summit conference and exhibition.
The event on July 14-15 takes place in an integrated in-person and digital format, with a live audience at the InterContinental in St Julian’s, Malta and online casino professionals from around the world watching online.
The Leadership track, which is on day two of the Summit, will open with a CEO Panel entitled ‘Embedding a Safer Gambling Ethos in Company Culture’. It will examine how operators can improve their approach to player protection and whether the industry is able to self regulate.
Tim De Borle (Napoleon Sports & Casino), Megan Easey (SpotGaming), Christopher Dalli (L&L Europe), and Alexandre Tomic (Alea) are the CEOs ready to share their insights and ideas with the audience, while James Bennett (director, Square in the Air) will be in the moderator’s chair.
Attention will then turn to how to promote games in line with the safer gambling message, with a CMO Panel that will address the topic of ‘Marketing Slots in a Sustainable Way’.
Dmitry Belianin (CMO, Parimatch International), Tereza Melicharkova (head of marketing, Swintt), and Martin Calvert (marketing director, ICS-digital) will be among the panelists exploring how the industry can acknowledge and tackle gambling harm, while also positioning slots as an entertainment activity.
A Slots Developers Panel will seek to answer the question ‘Zero-Harm Gaming: Can Slots be Gambling’s Netflix?’ A group of experts will discuss whether stake limits could prove to be a positive for the industry, how igaming can become a zero-harm entertainment product that competes against €20-a-month streaming services, and what sort of games are needed for that to happen.
The speakers include Vladimir Malakchi (chief commercial officer, Evoplay), Leanne Muleba (chief operations officer, MatchingVisions), and Yordy Diaz (product director, SpotGaming), with Simona Pinterova (co-founder, AYO.news) acting as moderator.
Rasmus Sojmark, founder and CEO of Summit organiser SBC, said: “Player protection is the number one issue for the industry, so we are pleased to provide a platform at CasinoBeats Summit for some of the most influential executives in igaming to exchange ideas about how provision can be improved.
“It’ll be fascinating to hear from operators and games developers about their potential roles in the creation of a more sustainable industry that continues to entertain players, while simultaneously minimising the risk of harm.”
The Leadership track will also focus on the evolving role and growing importance of platforms and aggregators in the industry, with ‘The True Game-Changers?’ panel.
Providing insights on the topic from the perspectives of operators will be Ciara Nic Liam (commercial director – gaming, Betsson Group) and Alexandre Tomic (CEO, Alea), while the content aggregators and platform providers will be represented by Sev Alev Kaya (commercial director, CasinoEngine, EveryMatrix) and Simon Hammon (CPO, Relax Gaming). Scott Longley (founder, Clear Concise Media) will ask the questions.
Closing out the track is a session about one of the hot topics facing companies based in the global igaming hub, as an expert panel assesses the impact of ‘The Recent Grey-Listing of Malta by the Financial Action Task Force’.
Emily Helmer (head of compliance & emerchant services, Tal Ron, Drihem & Co) will moderate a panel consisting of Yoav Dotan (founder, Genesis Global), Johan Styren (CEO, Dilanti Media), Assaf Stieglitz (CEO, Odds1x2.com), and Tal Itzhak Ron (advocate, managing partner, Tal Ron Drihem & Co) as they discuss the fallout from the FATF’s decision.
The CasinoBeats Summit conference agenda also includes the Key Markets, New Markets, Products & Innovation, Slots 2021, and Marketing & Affiliation tracks, along with the inaugural Game Developer Awards ceremony.
