Skyrocket Entertainment has added to its branded gaming roster, after gaining the international rights to Amazon Prime Video’s fantasy drama TV series American Gods.

The gambling film and media brand rights entity says that it will “transform” the brand into new gaming content and products, before migrating them into the worldwide online gambling sector through its newly launched Skyrocket Studios division.

The deal was struck between Angela Hueber, Fremantle’s VP of commercial and licensing, and Sean O’Kelly, Skyrocket CEO, with production for the game having commenced and is due to be delivered in Q4 2021.

Based on Neil Gaiman’s 2001 namesake novel, and initially adapted by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green for cable network Starz, the Emmy Award nominated American Gods is produced by Fremantle.

Working in collaboration with games studio Bang Bang Games, American Gods will be transformed into an online slot themed around the battle between old gods and new.

The game, which Skyrocket says will be “packed full of features,” will include four base game bonuses all played out on expanded reels.

“We are excited to launch Skyrocket Studios, the world’s first games studio to specialise solely in premium branded games,” stated O’Kelly.

“American Gods is loved by audiences worldwide and we’re thrilled to be opening this up to new audiences through the gaming market. The first of many more super brands to come.”

Furthermore, the company, whose ambition is to deliver up to 20 branded slot games per year, has also confirmed the appointment of Adam Howland as head of sales for Skyrocket Studios.

Launched at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, Skyrocket Entertainment aims to transform Hollywood feature films and branded intellectual property rights into content for real and social money gaming.

The company has acquired the international rights to 75 feature films including Rambo, The Expendables, and The Fallen franchise.
