Playtech seeks French poker growth via La Française des Jeux

La Française des Jeux has cited “a great track record” and “deep understanding of our long-term strategy” after the gaming operator disclosed a poker partnership with Playtech.

This has seen the FDJ become the latest addition to Playtech’s iPoker network, which will see the group benefit from increased liquidity offered via the solution, which pools players from the operators of bet365, Betfair, William Hill, Betsson and another recent addition in Svenska Spel.

Richard Courtois, CEO of the FDJ’s sport business unit, commented: “Playtech has a great track record as a poker network and content provider in Europe’s regulated markets, and the company’s involvement in our selection process demonstrated a clear commitment and a deep understanding of our long-term strategy in France.

“Thanks to Playtech, we are pleased to offer our players a new range of games. This move enables FDJ to complete its presence in the French online gaming market open to competition, based on a business model that combines performance and responsibility to keep gaming fun.”

In gaining the provision of Playtech’s Poker network services and content, the wider content package includes cash tables, poker tournaments and the group’s flagship title– Twister Poker.

“We are very proud that FDJ has chosen Playtech as its partner,” noted Marat Koss, VP of Interactive Gaming at Playtech.

“The addition of FDJ to our iPoker.EU is a vital step in the network’s expansion as the buoyancy of the French online gambling market continues, where we get to showcase our extensive product and technology range. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with FDJ.”

The partnership represents the continued growth of Playtech as a Poker supplier across the expanding French market, which generated €10.70bn Euros in 2021, up seven per cent year-on-year.
