SBC Summit Rio opening day

The opening day of SBC Summit Rio promises to deliver cutting-edge insights to more than 3,000 delegates, unveiling the latest in innovative leadership strategies and the newest trends in marketing across the specialised ‘Leaders’ and ‘Marketing & Affiliation’ conference tracks.

The two tracks are set to run simultaneously on March 6 at the inaugural betting and gaming event tailored to senior executives with an interest in the Brazilian market. This milestone event, the first following the highly anticipated regulatory changes, is set to take place at the Windsor Convention & Expo Center in Rio de Janeiro. It will serve as a pivotal meeting point, offering a chance to reflect on the industry’s journey to this moment and to forecast its trajectory in the upcoming year.

The ‘Leaders’ track will give the floor to executives from top-tier operators including Entain, Parimatch, EstrelaBet, Betsson, Superbet, OpenBet and more. The track sessions will give prominence to key topics such as enhancing player protection through collaborative efforts with regulators, adopting responsible advertising strategies and identifying crucial factors for mergers and acquisitions in the Brazilian market, aiming to assist both sides in reaching a successful partnership.

One worth highlighting is the ‘Regulator Panel: A Look Back at the First Months of Regulated Sports Betting, with One Eye on the Next Six’ panel. It will feature regulatory experts José Francisco Manssur (Special Advisor to the Executive Secretary, Ministry of Finance of Brazil), Martin Lycka (SVP American Regulatory Affairs & Responsible Gambling, Entain), Rafael Marchetti Marcondes (Chief Legal Officer, Rei do Pitaco) and moderator Tiago Gomes (Partner, Ambiel Advogados) as they reflect on Brazil’s journey to a regulated market and share their thoughts on the future of the industry.

The panel titled ‘International Operators: How to Make Headway In Brazil’ will explore the best strategies global operators can utilise for successful entry into the Brazilian market. Expert speakers Cecilia López Boronat (Chief Communications Officer, Clobet), Andreas Bardun (Founder, KTO), Alex Fonseca (CEO Brazil, Superbet) and Maksym Tsaryk (Head of Brazil, Parimatch), alongside panel moderator Jon Moss (Director, 34 Consulting Ltd), will provide insights into how global operators can understand local culture and familiarise themselves with media consumption trends and marketing strategies, all while maintaining brand identity.

The ‘Marketing & Affiliation’ track, promises delegates invaluable insights into cutting-edge affiliate and advertising strategies. Delegates can anticipate discussions encompassing the best practices for optimal CRM system implementation and the power of social media marketing. The conference track will also host a dedicated Affiliate Leaders panel which will explore the optimal strategies affiliates can utilise, such as educating the local market about new alternative channels and establishing operator and media partnerships, to fortify their position in the market.

The ‘Advertising Regulations in the New Sports Betting Paradigm’ panel will explore the challenges and opportunities operators might face in the wake of potential advertising restrictions in Brazil. Experts Cássio Filter (Brazil Country Manager, KTO), Rafael Ganem (Comercial Director, SAF Botafogo), Angelo Alberoni (Country Manager Brasil, Novibet) and moderator Udo Seckelmann (Head of Department of Gambling & Crypto, Bichara e Motta Advogados) will delve into the alternative marketing channels and strategies at operators disposal. They will scrutinise methods to circumvent advertising backlash and speculate on regulatory responses to a potential surge in sports betting advertisements.

Notably, attendees can also benefit from a specialised ‘Chat-Based Tools: Strategies for Deeper Connections’ workshop and the ‘Behind the Badge Live – Brazil Special’ podcast. Both formats offer a unique opportunity to enhance delegates’ educational experience in an interesting, collaborative and fun environment.

The panel titled ‘Localized Marketing Approaches’, will feature industry experts Pedro Melo (Chief Commercial Officer, Clube Atletico Mineiro), Vanda Silvia (Chief Corporate Officer, Clever Advertising), Ernest Bowes (Brazilian Content Manager, BlueWindow), Marco Pequeno (CEO, iGaming360) and panel moderator Thomas Carvalhaes (Managing Director, Vai de Bob). The opening day is packed with really influential speakers and topics that can help our delegates get a good feel for the market and ultimately up their game.
