Andy Hornby, co-chief operating officer of GVC Holdings, is to leave the gambling giant to take up the position of CEO with the London-listed The Restaurant Group.

Hornby originally joined Gala Coral in 2011, holding roles including CEO of Coral, chief operating officer of Gala Coral and then Ladbrokes Coral (following the 2016 merger) and, most recently, co-COO of GVC.

Seemingly GVC only learned of Hornby’s departure when it was announced by his new employer. “GVC notes today’s announcement by The Restaurant Group that Andy Hornby will be joining as its CEO in due course,” the company said in a statement this morning.

GVC CEO Kenneth Alexander said: “Over the last eight years Andy has been instrumental in the turnaround and growth of the Ladbrokes Coral businesses. The business has genuinely been transformed under Andy and I have really enjoyed working with him, and would like to thank him for his valuable contribution to the Group.

“We congratulate Andy on his new role and wish him well for the future.”

At The Restaurant Group, Hornby replaces outgoing CEO Andy McCue, although the specific dates for transition have not been confirmed.
