Light & Wonder, formerly known as Scientific Games, has become one of the latest online gambling operators to receive an igaming licence in Ontario ahead of next month’s launch in the Canadian province.

Alongside Kindred, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has selected its latest recipients of the licence as the market prepares to go live on April 4.

Ontario-licensed operators will soon benefit from Light & Wonder’s OpenGaming content aggregation platform which features more than 2,500 games, including 88 Fortunes, Dancing Drums Explosion and Marvellous Mouse Coin Combo, as well as releases from third-party studios.

“We can’t begin to overstate how excited we are to be operating in Ontario, this is a market where our games have resonated with players for years and now to expand to the private sector is an incredible opportunity and fantastic milestone for the company,” commented Robert Hays, Light & Wonder Managing Director.

Furthermore, Light & Wonder, who recently announced its rebrand, will offer marketing tools, integration ease and responsible gaming tools after receiving its igaming supplier licence in the region.

Kindred are another beneficiary of the AGCO’s decision to extend its collection of operators ahead of Ontario’s igaming launch, with the group also set to launch its products for flagship brand Unibet and join previously accredited companies such as FanDuel, LeoVegas and BetMGM.

“This is an exciting day and a significant milestone for both Kindred and Unibet,” added Amanda Brewer, Country Manager Canada for Kindred.

“We are proud to have received permission to launch in Ontario on the first day the market opens and look forward to building long-term relationships with our customers and partners.

“The igaming market in Ontario is expected to be one of the largest in North America, which makes it a truly interesting proposition for Kindred.”
