Betsson Group Affiliates has announced that Triston Smook has been promoted to Head of Affiliates.
Smook, a veteran of 18 years in igaming, joined Betsson as a Key Affiliate Manager in 2019. He worked his way up to become Business Development Manager earlier this year and has now secured a further career progression within the group.
His new Malta-based role will see him take charge of an award-winning department that took home the Best Affiliate Program honour at the SBC Awards 2022 in September.
It promises to be a big job, with the affiliate team tasked with driving high-quality traffic to and building partnerships for all of Betsson’s 20+ online casino and sportsbook brands, which are spread across 19 jurisdictions around the world.
While Betsson’s stronghold is Europe, the group has expanded further afield in recent times and has been awarded licences in Colombia, Kenya, the Province and City of Buenos Aires, Colorado and Greece since 2020.
In April this year, it announced a partnership with Big Bola Casinos in order to secure a licence and offer online casino, live casino and localised sportsbook products in Mexico. Betsson Group Affiliates confirmed in August that it had launched online affiliation for Mexico and was now onboarding partners for the market.
The international nature of the Head of Affiliates job will not faze Smook, who Betsson described as “a strong marketing professional who is highly experienced in markets globally” and someone who has “demonstrated success in driving new business and ensuring the growth of our brands within his previous role”.
His pre-Betsson jobs included spells with brands such as Betwinner, Legolas Bet, Genesys Affiliates and Osiris Trading, encompassing time in affiliate management, business development, sales, digital marketing, contact centres, payments and risk management.
