SOFTSWISS has published a new report – iGaming Trends 2024 – exploring the trending igaming topics heading into the new year.

Utilising internal and external inquiries, the report has been compiled and designed to assist igaming companies in navigating the industry’s landscape in 2024.

A few topics covered in iGaming Trends 2024 include an analysis of Malta and Curacao regulations moving into 2024; local market insights; technology trends overview with a focus on emerging tech; responsible gambling and ethical strategies; cybersecurity; and the socio-economic impact of igaming.

SOFTSWISS detailed three trending topics in particular that will “shape the industry in the coming year” – local regulation, player welfare, as well as gamification and collective gaming experience.

Regarding local regulation, the company highlighted Brazil and how Latin America is the most promising region in the world when it comes to igaming, followed by North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.

“Marking a significant milestone for the entire industry, Brazil entered the regulated igaming sector in 2023,” commented Max Trafimovich, Chief Commercial Officer at SOFTSWISS.

“This move not only demonstrated the country’s commitment to self-regulation but also aligned with a broader global trend. The shift signifies a crucial transformation within the industry, indicating a collective move towards more structured and trustworthy markets on a global scale.”

Looking at player welfare, SOFTSWISS noted that responsible gambling is a focus for many igaming firms, especially when it comes to player engagement and marketing.

The company added that keeping player welfare in mind will help firms uphold ethical standards and bolster customer loyalty. Factors driving responsible gambling include meeting regulatory requirements, public awareness, potential legal consequences and ethical responsibility.

For gamification and collective gaming experience, SOFTSWISS stated that gamification is a ‘pivotal future focus’ and that experiences must align with players’ expectations.

Specifically, social elements appear to be the next big thing in player engagement and are already present within igaming itself through tournaments, challenges and team competitions.

Valentina Bagniya, Chief Marketing Officer at SOFTSWISS, added: “Being an innovative tech company and one of the iGaming leaders, SOFTSWISS recognises its responsibility as an industry trendsetter.

“This report is our significant intellectual contribution to the development of our sphere, especially during the pivotal period when companies are enhancing their business strategies for more impressive results in the upcoming year.”
