Gaming Innovation Group has strengthened its executive team with the appointment of Matthew Saxon as Chief Technical Officer for Platform & Sportsbook.

As CTO, Saxon will oversee GiG Platform & Sportsbook’s engineering strategy and architecture and will be responsible for the ongoing development of GiG’s full suite of innovative solutions and features – engineering and infrastructure, platform migrations and GiG Data and GiG Logic tools.

The hire of Saxon is part of the company’s production-focused growth strategy, which includes investing in products and technology to enhance its full-service product features suite.

“Matt’s appointment is a significant step towards helping us reach the high bar we have set for the business,” stated Richard Carter, CEO of Platform & Sportsbook at GiG.

“We are continuing a process of bringing together the strongest leadership in sports betting and igaming and I am confident that his arrival will help further fuel our strategic plans, establishing us as a leader in technological advancement and commerciality across the igaming industry”

Saxon brings over 30 years of igaming and financial experience to GiG, previously holding executive positions at Sportradar and PWC. He has also helped develop architecture across platform, sportsbook and AI-driven tools.

Commenting on his appointment, Saxon added: “I am excited to be joining GiG and leading their technology team at the start of what promises to be an extremely impressive growth phase.

“The foundations that are in place are an amazing springboard to help us accelerate our partners’ businesses and I’m looking forward to helping GiG bring these great capabilities to them, both new and existing.”

Saxon’s appointment comes a month after GiG announced it is expecting to achieve the final execution on a long-mooted business split during the first half of 2024, which is anticipated to fully optimise growth opportunities.
