Kaaren Hilsen, chief financial officer at Swedish gaming group Betsson, is to leave her position to become CEO at communications company Telenor.
In a statement released today, Betsson said Hilsen has decided to return to the telecoms industry and will take up the position of CEO of Telenor in Sweden, going back to the company she left to join Betsson as CFO in 2017.
Hilsen has a notice period of six months and Betsson said it will begin the process of recruiting a new CFO without delay.
“I would like to thank Kaaren for her contribution in getting Betsson back on track,” said Pontus Lindwall, CEO of Betsson AB.
“I respect that she has received an offer she couldn’t refuse and wish her all the best for the future.
“Betsson is a stronger company than it was a year ago and I am sure that we will soon recruit a new CFO who wants to be part of taking Betsson to the next level,” he said.
Hilsen worked for 17 years at Telenor in the Swedish telecommunications industry. She has had various management roles, including CFO and CEO positions, in a number of countries across Asia, the Nordics and Eastern Europe.
