Partypoker has announced that it will be hosting a UK NHS Charity Tournament to help support the effort of the healthcare service during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

A minimum of 50 per cent of the prize pool will be matched and doubled by partypoker and donated to the NHS Charities Together, the umbrella organisation which represents over 140 NHS charities.

The tournament will be held tonight, 16 April, at 20:30 BST, and will be available to players based in the UK on partypoker.

Players can join the cause for a £50 buy-in with no limit to the number of re-entries allowed for both registration and the first 12 blind levels. Starting stacks will be 50,000 chips with blinds increasing every six minutes.

“We are delighted to play our part in helping the poker community support the NHS and contribute to the national effort in combating COVID-19.” said Tom Waters, partypoker managing director. “Poker players have a long and proud history of coming together to support charitable causes. At this moment, that support has never been more needed.”

A minimum of 50 per cent of the prize pool will be donated, and partypoker will then match the amount collected, doubling the charitable donation. Partypoker has confirmed it will take zero commission or fee for this tournament.

The remaining prize pool will be paid out to players as per the standard tournament payout structure.

NHS Charities is a pool of 250 NHS charities across the UK most of which have the sole purpose of helping hospitals provide better care and achieve a higher level of service. Collectively, these charities donate £1m per day.

Furthermore, NHS charities fund major capital projects, pioneering research and supply medical equipment for hospitals, the latter being a major concern during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
