MGM Resorts International has donated $360k to the International Centre of Responsible Gaming to boost funding for projects in the new year.
The donation will bolster the creation of two new projects to help the research body better understand, prevent and address potential risks associated with gambling.
“These research projects are critical to the continued success of the industry and are in the best interest of our guests, company, employees, and the communities where we operate,” said Stephen Martino, Senior Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer at MGM Resorts.
“We’re pleased to continue our financial support of the ICRG and its critical work around responsible gaming best practices.”
Formed in 1996, the ICRG helps to fund research that provides evidence for several RG stakeholders – such as treatment providers, researchers, advocates, operators, regulators and public policymakers – about responsible gaming and problem gambling.
While also donating to the ICRG, MGM is training 60,000 gaming employees on the risks of problem gambling and the importance of responsible gaming. Run in partnership with the AGA’s Have A Game Plan, the agreement also sees MGM utilize the GameSense responsible gaming tool to better equip its players with RG tools to stay safe.
ICRG research funded by MGM will be shared with other GameSense users and “operators who may benefit from its findings”.
