Two Dutch influencers have been ordered by the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the country’s gaming authority, to remove a YouTube video over its inclusion of an illegal gambling advertisement.
The duo implied that they were engaging with the platform in the video, despite blurring out the company’s logo.
A second warning by the KSA ordered the influencers to take the video down from YouTube, to which they complied. If the same infringement happens again, the regulator can follow up with a financial punishment.
The clamp down against illegal offerings and promotion of these products has become increasingly stringent over the last few months. Last week, the KSAs ordered Formula One and the Sauber racing team not to advertise Stake during races at Zandvoort, including the Dutch Grand Prix, as the gambling provider is not licensed in the country.
The Sauber F1 team competes at most international races as ‘Stake F1 Team’ as the gambling provider is the team’s main sponsor. However, Stake doesn’t hold a KSA license and therefore is not allowed to offer or advertise gambling in the Netherlands.
The KSA noted that legislation states that gambling can’t be offered, advertised or promoted by an operator in the Netherlands without a license.
