Evolution was hit with a sanction after a trespasser breached security at the firm’s live dealer studio in Pennsylvania.
The intruder went straight for the female locker room having avoided all of the formal processes for signing in. Furthermore, his entry also came after a myriad of failed attempts, before eventually being buzzed into the premises by a member of staff.
Adding to the confusion, it was also revealed that the incident took place in the midst of a number of staff swapping shifts as a significant number of employees left and entered the premises.
The testimony revealed that having made his way into the changing rooms, he was seen “inappropriately touching himself”, whilst making a series of rude comments.
The man was removed from the premises, however, he has since not been arrested following the incident. It led to the supplier being fined $7,500, after an agreement with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
The incident has also led to the strengthening of security safeguards from Evolution as it acknowledged that the security breaches were based on ‘a combination of human error, failure to follow procedures and it was also exacerbated by a layout where there was room for improvement.’
Evolution’s lawyer emphasised that the firm’s focus on a human approach to igaming requires they ensure safety for all their staff.
He stated: “Evolution’s business model, as an internet gaming company, is very unusual.” “Its business model is based on believing that humans are better to present games. They can’t value that unless you provide safety and security.”
Live Casino focus
Live casino has been a key part of growth for Evolution in recent times, in the most recent set of Evolution results, the vertical increased by 18% to €438.1m, compared to the correlating Q2 period last year.
This also came amidst the expansion of tables and scaling up of studios for the company, as it underlined the vital nature of evolving traditional games and providing new avenues of engagement for players.
CEO Martin Carlesund said: “Revenue from live casino increased by 18% year-on-year, and we maintain full focus on increasing our delivery capacity and expanding our studio network. During 2024 we expect to go live with our first tables from the new state-of-the art studios in Colombia and the Czech Republic.
“Today we operate over 20 studios around the globe, creating a unique capacity to deliver both volume and variation of our world-leading games to customers. After two quarters heavily focusing on expansion, the second quarter was one of consolidation with a slightly lower margin as new resources were gradually coming up to speed. We expect a more normalised expansion of staff during the second half of the year.”
