Fireworks are expected when the Detroit Lions meet the Baltimore Ravens tonight on Monday Night Football, as the game features the highest total for any NFL Week 3 game.

“Opened it at 52 and it’s been steady one-way (action on the) OVER to reach 54,” SuperBook VP of Risk Management Jeff Sherman told CasinoBeats this afternoon. “Yes, we will need the UNDER.”

Sherman’s sportsbook is not alone. On Sunday night, the total had crept to 54 at other Las Vegas books.

Public Predictably Pounds OVER for Lions-Ravens on MNF

It’s a time-honored tradition in sports betting: The public loves to bet the OVER, especially in big standalone or “island” games like Lions vs. Ravens.

“Anytime there’s a total of (53 or 54), which is rarefied air in that league, you know we’re going to need UNDER for something because every parlay will have OVER,” Boomer’s Director of Trading Nick Bogdanovich said. “Every regular Joe will have OVER in that game, and I can’t blame them. They want to tune in and see fireworks.”

Red Rock Resort Sportsbook Director Chuck Esposito added: “We’re going to need that game UNDER big time. The ticket count is over 75 percent toward the OVER. There’s no question the total might be bigger than the side itself.”

Through the first two weeks of the NFL season, Baltimore led the league in scoring with 40.5 points per game. The Ravens crushed the Browns 41-17 last weekend after getting outlasted by the Bills 41-40 in the season opener.

Buffalo’s epic comeback produced the single-worst game outcome ever at DraftKings. A similar scenario played out at Caesars Sportsbook, which will also be pulling for the UNDER to hit tonight.

“We desperately need a low-scoring game, as the Ravens and Bills already accounted for the biggest single-game win for the customers in the past two years (outside of Super Bowls),” Caesars Sportsbook Head of Football Joey Feazel said. “With the popularity of same-game parlays, a similar score line Monday night would be significant for the customer base.”

The Lions scored 52 points of their own in last week’s blowout win over the Bears, after managing just 13 in the season-opening loss to Green Bay. Both teams feature high-octane offenses with some of the league’s best playmakers.

Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson and RB Derrick Henry will be countered by Detroit RB Jahmyr Gibbs and WR Amon St. Brown. They are among the most likely players to score an anytime touchdown, based on odds at DraftKings as of Monday afternoon.

  • Derrick Henry (-215)
  • Jahmyr Gibbs (-125)
  • Zay Flowers (+120)
  • David Montgomery (+120)
  • Lamar Jackson (+175)
  • Amon-Ra St. Brown (+120)

DraftKings Offers $2M ‘King of the End Zone’ Promo for MNF; Who to Bet?

DraftKings brought back its “King of the End Zone” promo this season. Users can opt in and place an anytime TD scorer bet. If your chosen player scores the longest touchdown on Monday Night Football, you’ll win a share of $2 million in bonus bets.

For what it’s worth, Henry shares the record for the NFL’s longest rushing TD at 99 yards. That came back in 2018 against the Jaguars.

Even at 31, Henry is still a dynamic back. However, when it comes to betting on the longest touchdown in tonight’s game, consider an explosive wide receiver for both teams. Baltimore’s Flowers owns the franchise record for longest TD catch at 75 yards.

Meanwhile, Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown did this against Minnesota.

Good luck with all your bets tonight!
