The San Francisco 49ers take on the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN/ABC.
The 49ers (10-4 SU, 8-5-1 ATS) have already clinched a playoff spot, competing in the ultra-competitive NFC West. The Colts (8-6 SU, 7-5-2 ATS) are one of four teams on the bubble, along with the Ravens, Lions, and Bucs.
DraftKings is dealing San Francisco as a 5.5-point road favorite with a total of 45.5. At the time of publication, 78% of the spread handle and 71% tickets are on the 49ers.
Best Bet 49ers vs. Colts: Against the Spread
Philip Rivers will make his home debut for the Colts on Monday Night Football. Rivers, 44, went 18-of-27 for 120 passing yards along with a TD and a pick against Seattle last week
Rivers relied on short passes to help the Colts cover against the Seahawks, and don’t be surprised if he does similarly against the 49ers. Handing the ball off to Jonathan Taylor, who leads the NFL with 1,443 rushing yards and 18 TDs, is a recipe for success. Taylor’s also a capable pass catcher and safety valve for Rivers out of the backfield.
San Francisco’s defense showed some vulnerability in last week’s win over Tennessee. The 49ers allowed 24 points and 6.2 yards per play to arguably the NFL’s worst team.
The offense looked good coming off the bye week, with QB Brock Purdy throwing for 295 yards and three TDs. Jauan Jennings has scored a TD in five of his last six games. He scored twice last week against the Titans.
Christian McCaffrey leads the 49ers in rushing (922 yards), receiving (820 yards), and touchdowns (14). The showdown between Taylor and CMC equals must-see TV.
With Rivers having another week to acclimate to Indy’s offense, take the home dog and the points in a game that goes OVER the total of 45.5.
Pick: Colts +5.5
Best Player Prop for Colts
Philip Rivers 2+ Passing Touchdowns (+264 at DraftKings)
Rivers will have more time in the pocket tonight, as the 49ers rank last in pressure rate. They have the fewest sacks (16) of any team in the NFL, too, after stud DE Nick Bosa was lost to a season-ending ACL injury.
This is a monster number for Rivers to throw two TDs. In comparison, Purdy is offered at -156. Rivers tossed an 8-yard TD to Josh Downs last week against Seattle. Take him to have two tonight against San Francisco.
Best Player Prop for 49ers
George Kittle OVER 66.5 Receiving Yards (-112 at FanDuel)
Kittle has cleared this number in his last five games. During that span, he’s been targeted a whopping 33 times. Purdy looks for Kittle early and often, so the volume should remain steady tonight.
Last week, he caught eight of nine targets for 88 yards and a TD in the win over Tennessee. Expect something similar against Indy, which has allowed the eighth-most yards to opposing TEs (928).
