Gold Blitz, a previously unranked entry from Digital Gaming Corporation, stormed into the top of the overall game charts in April’s Eilers-Fantini Online Game Performance Report

However, Rick Eckert, Managing Director of Slot Performance and Analytics at Eilers & Krejcik, cautioned against declaring Gold Blitz as a “home run game” as the slot was only tracked across four casino sites.

Eckert stated: “While this game dominated the rankings this month, I would be cautious to call it a home run game currently since we are only tracking the theme across four sites with a large spread in performance from site to site.

“We will continue to monitor this game but I would expect some volatility from Gold Blitz’s performance over the next couple of months. Gold Blitz is a visually appealing game with high volatility that appeals to a gambler rather than an entertainment player.”

IGT’s table game Blackjack and Light & Wonder’s slot 88 Fortunes switched places but remained in the top three below Gold Blitz, with another L&W slot, Jin Ji Bao Xi Endless Treasure and Evolution’s Live Dealer Roulette making up the rest of the top five.

Looking into slots specifically, Digital Gaming Corporation placed three times in the top ten chart, all three of which were previously unranked. Gold Blitz, Squealin Riches and Bison Moon came in first, fourth and eighth place respectively.

The rest of the top 25 slots saw several fresh entries, as Fantasma Games’ Prometheus Titan of Fire, Greentube’s Great American Wilds and Almighty Buffalo Megaways from White Hat Studios respectively placed 25th, 20th and 19th among others.

Commenting on current innovations in the igaming space, Eckert said: “While innovation in slots is important, we have seen much more development and innovation when it comes to non-traditional themes such as those in the Instant Win category.

“Notably we have seen the LuckyTap games from Design Works Gaming perform exceptionally well and have tracked an increase of suppliers in this category to the likes of Light & Wonder with their Cash Pong theme and Skillzgaming producing games similar to those popular game mechanics in social gaming.”

On a gross gaming revenue breakdown of slots suppliers, Evolution kept its position at the top of the pile with a 24 per cent total ahead of IGT (16.7 per cent) and L&W (16.2 per cent).

A strengthened position of dominance was also evidenced by slots in April’s report, after accounting for 90.7 per cent of all games tracked, up from 90.6 per cent during March.

This comes out ahead of table games at 4.4 per cent (March: 4.5 per cent), live casino at 2.1 per cent (March: 2 per cent), video poker which remains consistent once more at 1.4 per cent, instant win’s 1.1 per cent (March: 1.1 per cent) and 0.2 per cent for both lottery and bingo/keno (March: both 0.2 per cent).

Eilers-Fantini’s analysis examines data from Michigan, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut across 30 online casino sites, tracking 43,669 games – around 59 per cent of the market.
