The Seahawks host the Texans as part of tonight’s Monday Night Football doubleheader. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Seattle (4-2 SU, 4-2 ATS) is listed as a 3-point home favorite with a modest total of 41 at BetMGM. Houston (2-3 SU, 2-3 ATS) is coming off a bye week after eviscerating Baltimore 44-10. The Texans have won their last two games after starting 0-3.
The Seahawks have taken 73% of the tickets and 69% of the handle on the spread at BetMGM. As of this writing, Seattle -3 was juiced up to -118.
Best MNF Bet Against the Spread
Seahawks -3 (-118)
Houston broke out offensively with a combined 70 points scored in wins over the injury-riddled Ravens and cellar-dwelling Titans in their last two games. Seattle’s defense and raucous home crowd will provide a sterner test tonight.
The Seahawks will seek to establish the run with Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet. WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba has been tearing it up offensively (NFL-best 696 receiving yards and three TDs), but he faces a tough matchup with Houston CB Derek Stingley Jr.
Seattle’s key to success will come on the ground. Notably, Walker has amassed 12 runs of 10+ yards already this season. That’s the eighth-best mark in the NFL. Walker and Charbonnet will face a decent Houston rush defense, but the Texans boast a top-five unit against the pass. Houston also gives up a league-low 0.6 passing TDs per game, which could limit QB Sam Darnold‘s stats tonight.
After winning two straight games against undermanned teams in Baltimore and Tennessee, we expect Houston’s offense to regress under the direction of QB CJ Stroud. The Texans scored a combined 38 points in their first three games, going winless during that stretch. Expect more of that tonight at Lumen Field.
Best MNF Player Prop for Seahawks
Jaxon Smith-Njigba Longest Reception OVER 27.5 Yards (-125)
We looked off JSN’s receiving yards prop tonight, as he’s expected to be shadowed by Stingley all night.
In addition to leading the league in receiving yards, Smith-Njigba has the most 20+ yard catches in the NFL at 13. Check out his game log for longest catch in each contest this year:
- 40 yards vs. 49ers
- 43 yards vs. Steelers
- 45 yards vs. Saints
- 36 yards vs. Cardinals
- 53 yards vs. Bucs
- 61 yards vs. Jags
That’s just nasty, and the 61-yarder against Jacksonville also went for a touchdown last week.
Best MNF Player Prop for Texans
CJ Stroud OVER 32.5 Passing Attempts (-110)
This goes against the grain, as Stroud has only eclipsed this number once this season. He had 38 pass attempts in a loss to Jacksonville.
This is all about weighing Seattle’s relative strengths on defense. The Seahawks rank third among all NFL teams in rushing yards allowed (79 ypg). They’ve also given up the least rushing TDs (0.3 per game), tied with the Rams.
The bottom line? Every QB Seattle has faced this season has gone OVER 32.5 pass attempts. Check it out:
- Brock Purdy (35)
- Aaron Rodgers (33)
- Spencer Rattler (39)
- Kyler Murray (41)
- Baker Mayfield (33)
- Trevor Lawrence (42)
That’s almost as remarkable as JSN’s longest catches. It’s enough for us take this prop on Stroud tonight.
