Commanders vs. Chiefs Odds, Prediction: Best Bets for Monday Night Football

Monday Night Football features Commanders vs. Chiefs with the kickoff set for 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN.

The Chiefs (4-3 SU, 4-3 ATS) are being dealt as a 10.5-point home favorite over the Commanders (3-4 SU, 3-4 ATS) at DraftKings. The total is set at 47.5. Washington will look to overcome the absence of starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, who’ll miss this game with a hamstring injury. Marcus Mariota will be under center for the Commanders.

Commanders +10.5 (-115)

The Chiefs welcomed WR Rashee Rice back from suspension last week and demolished the undermanned Raiders, 31-0. Rice had seven catches on 10 targets for 42 yards and two TDs in his return. Even with Daniels sitting this game out, Washington will provide a stiffer challenge. The Commanders will benefit from the full return of top WRs Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel.

Kansas City is expected to be without two key pieces on the O-line: left tackle Josh Simmons and right guard Trey Smith. Washington has shown its ability to get after the quarterback with 19 sacks on the year.

The Chiefs have averaged 30.5 points in each of their last two games. Patrick Mahomes now has both Rice and speedster Xavier Worthy at his disposal out wide. With a compromised offensive line, though, expect Washington’s pressure to make life more difficult for Mahomes.

We’re not keen on laying double digits on the spread with a belief that the veteran Mariota will find a way to keep this game close. In addition to McLaurin and Samuels, RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt is a weapon out of the backfield. He’s got more than 400 scrimmage yards and shares the team lead in touchdowns at four with Samuel and TE Zach Ertz.

Patrick Mahomes OVER 25.5 Rushing Yards (+117)

DraftKings is dealing nice plus-money odds on this prop. Mahomes has eclipsed this number for three consecutive games:

• 28 rushing yards vs. Raiders
• 32 rushing yards vs. Lions
• 60 rushing yards vs. Jags

As mentioned, expect Washington to pressure Mahomes from the pocket, especially with two starters likely missing on the offensive line. Mahomes ranks second on the team in rushing yards with 250. Only Isiah Pacheco has more with 272. Mahomes also leads the Chiefs with four rushing TDs. Bet on him to use his legs again tonight.

Marcus Mariota Longest Rush OVER 12.5 Yards (-105)

This is a less attractive price on Mariota, but stay with us here. In three games played, he’s put up 40, 20, and 34 yards, respectively. What gets us more excited? Check out his longest run in each of those games:
