Henry Brayshaw, the son of cricketer-turned-commentator James Brayshaw, has revealed how OnlyFans star Annie Knight has helped him overcome a crippling gambling addiction.

The 28-year-old said a turning point came after he gambled away AU$10,000 ($7,000) that Knight had given him to get a bank loan within an hour. He had racked up AU$180,000 ($126,000) in gambling debts.

Talking on the Soberly Speaking podcast this week, Brayshaw said, “It got really dark for me in the build-up to that time.’’

He added, “When you come out, and you’re like, I owe $180,000 … at the age of 26, that would have been. That’s to everyone, that’s banks, that’s loan sharks, that’s friends. I owed one particular person $60,000. It was crazy. And because I would be this guy on the weekends, this happy-go-lucky Henry that would put on a show … the week that I’d spend in bed in a dark room, not talking to anyone, was probably a bit of a telltale that I wasn’t right.”

However, OnlyFans model Knight supported him. They are due to get married later this year.

“Annie and I have had so many beautiful conversations about this. We’re learning every day. God bless her, she’s put so much time and effort into understanding this life,” said Brayshaw.

Sex With 583 Men Brought Knight Closer To Brayshaw

Knight has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers online and has been described as “Australia’s most sexually active woman“. She says having sex with 583 men in six hours brought her closer to fiancé Brayshaw. She performed the stunt in May last year, after teaming up with fellow adult performers Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips.

Her fame has brought her financial gain, which she shares with Brayshaw, purchasing a $3 million house on the Gold Coast. She also gives him an allowance, but he said that he often splurges the cash.

Brayhsaw added, “I don’t have any access to that sort of money. Annie is the brains and the brawn in that space. We’ve tried the allowance thing, which sounds emasculating, right? I can’t do anything more than that, I don’t want anymore of that. We tried a substantial amount in the past two years, and I spent it. It’s a bit of a head f**k at times, but I can’t have it any other way at the moment, and I’m grateful for the support.”

Gambling Led To Other Addictions

Brayshaw also said that his gambling addiction led to other destructive behaviors. He said his main vice was betting online at sportsbooks, including Tabcorp, SportsBet, and Ladbrokes, where he is now banned.

“And suddenly you hadn’t paid rent, and suddenly you hadn’t paid off all the people you said you would that week. And that’s when I’d use drugs, and that’s when I’d use alcohol. And I’d use the cash I had on hand to go have fun that weekend. Just to escape that headspace,” Brayshaw admitted.

He said this cycle continued for eight years between the ages of 18 and 26. Australians lose more than any other nation to gambling, with that trend continuing on pokies in New South Wales.

There have been increasing calls in the country to ban gambling advertising, claiming it encourages gambling from a young age. Brayshaw’s father promoted Sportsbet in a gambling ad in 2021.

Fellow cricketer Usman Khawaja said acts like that are damaging young Australians, commenting, “The relationship that young kids are having with gambling is scary, and it’s dangerous. We are normalising gambling for the younger generation.”

Khawaja has joined public health voices in urging the government to take action. Brayshaw admits he’s still dealing with gambling lapses and has “gone through the wringer” with the different phases.
