Best Bet USA vs. Canada: Against the Spread
The Americans entered the competition as the -155 favorite to win gold. Prior to the Olympics, the U.S. swept Canada 4-0 in the Rivalry Series.
Team USA seeks its third gold medal after winning in 1998 and 2018. The Americans have medaled in every competition since women’s hockey was introduced at the 1998 Nagano Games. Captain Hilary Knight will become the most decorated U.S. women’s player regardless of the outcome against Canada.
Team USA has been led by Univ. of Wisconsin defenseman Caroline Harvey, who leads the tournament in points (nine) and +/- rating (+14). Hannah Bilka follows with four goals, tied for the tournament lead, and seven points.
Canada’s lone loss in the competition came at the hands of the U.S. The Canadians had never been shut out in Olympic play prior to that.
Canada will benefit from the return of captain Marie Philip-Poulin, who missed the first game against the U.S. due to a knee injury. Poulin scored both of Canada’s goals in a 2-1 win over Switzerland in the semifinals. She is now the all-time leading goal scorer in women’s Olympic competition with 19.
Even with Poulin back, Team USA should continue its roll through this tournament. Play the Americans on the puckline.
Pick: USA -2.5 (+114)
Best Parlay USA vs. Canada
USA Moneyline & OVER 5.5 (+144 at DraftKings)
If you don’t want to lay the goals on the spread, DraftKings is offering this parlay at solid plus-money odds. Expect the Americans to continue their offensive onslaught. The U.S. has scored at least five goals in every game so far, and we don’t think Canada will be shut out again.
Best Anytime Goal Scorer for Team USA
Hannah Bilka (+195 at FanDuel)
We’ll ride the hot hand here with Bilka, who scored twice in the first game against Canada. She has a chance to lead all players with the most goals in the tournament, entering tied for the lead with four.
Best Anytime Goal Scorer for Canada
Marie-Philip Poulin (+240 at FanDuel)
Nobody has scored more all-time goals than Poulin (19) in the history of women’s Olympic hockey. Since returning for the knockout stage, Poulin has played valiantly despite a knee injury sustained against Czechia. She found the back of the net against Germany before striking for the pair of goals against Switzerland last time out.
