London is set to play host to the richest poker tournament ever held, when the Triton Million Helping Hand for Charity event takes place on August 1-3 with a £1.05m entry fee.
Encapsulating a £1m buy-in accompanied by a £50,000 charity donation, the flagship event of the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series is to be held in the Grand Ballroom of the London Hilton on Park Lane.
The invitation only event, sponsored by partypoker live, follows a number of previous destinations including Montenegro, Manila, Sochi, Macau, the Philippines and Jeju in South Korea.
The only way to secure participation is either to be invited directly by Triton Poker or to be an invitation holder’s nominated guest, with invitees permitted to invite one individual to join them at the series.
A number of multi-millionaire businessman and poker professionals have already confirmed entries, including Triton Ambassadors Tom Dwan and Jason Koon as well as David Peters, Rui Cao and Bryn Kenney, who boast combined winnings in excess of £100m.
Among the recreational players who have already accepted an invitation to play are Hong Kong investor Stanley Choi, Dusk Till Dawn founder Rob Yong, 1978 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Bobby Baldwin and American entrepreneur Rick Salomon along with Triton co-founder Paul Phua.
Koon said of the event: “I’ve already taken part in several Triton Poker High Roller Series around the world and can definitely say they are the most exciting poker events I’ve ever played in.
“I love to play big stakes against tough competition, and no one checks those boxes quite like Triton. The Triton Million in London will be taking the Series to a whole new level as well as raising millions for worthy causes.
“There has never been a poker tournament with a buy-in of this size before, all the players will be part of poker history. I’m very excited about it! London is one of the most historically rich, beautiful cities in the world – so it’s very fitting that this history-making event will be taking place here in the heart of the city.”
To coincide with the impending event, Triton Poker released the following trailer.
