The Malta Gaming Authority has appointed Charles Mizzi as its Chief Executive Officer, effective from January 26, 2024.

Concluding a search that began back in October, Mizzi will be replacing Carl Brincat as CEO and will be joining the MGA after spending five years at Residency Malta Agency.

Throughout January, Mizzi will be shadowing Brincat to ensure a smooth transition, bringing with him experience in operations management.

Commenting on his new role, Mizzi said: “I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to lead the authority.

“I am keen to build on past successes and, together with the team under the guidance of the minister responsible and the Board of Governors, to strategically steer the authority forward so that Malta’s already robust position in the field may be further strengthened while delivering value to all stakeholders.”

Silvio Schembri, Minister for the Economy, EU Funds and Lands, thanked Brincat for his service over the past three years as CEO.

Before becoming CEO, Brincat held several roles within the MGA’s organisation, including Chief Legal and Enforcement Officer, Chief Legal Counsel, and Deputy General Counsel.

Schembri added: “With his vast experience in managing the operations of a number of entities and his contributions towards major projects, Charles Mizzi is undoubtedly the right candidate to continue building on what the MGA has achieved so far, and lead his excellent colleagues within the Authority towards further future success.”
