Entain has appointed former ASOS CFO Helen Ashton as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Ashton brings over 30 years of public and private equity-backed business experience to the FTSE 100 company and is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant. She also has experience in global business and financial services and has knowledge of high-growth digital and retail businesses.

She will also become a member of Entain’s Audit Committee.

Barry Gibson, Chair of Entain, commented: “On behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome Helen to Entain. Helen brings a wealth of retail, digital, financial and board experience.

“As part of the continued strengthening of the Entain Board, I am confident that Helen will further enhance the Board’s ability to support and oversee the delivery of our strategy.”

Ashton is a former CFO of online clothing business ASOS and has held executive positions at other giant British businesses like ASDA, Barclays and Lloyds Banking Group. She is currently a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee of JD Sports Fashion.

She is also not the only appointment Entain has made to its team in the past few weeks, as at the end of June, the company added to its executive team with Charlotte Emery as its new Chief Marketing Officer.

The FTSE 100 company is still looking for a permanent CEO following the departure of Jette Nygaard-Andersen in December 2023. Stella David has been the interim CEO since, but she will become Chair later this year once Gibson retires.

Entain will be publishing its 2024 interim financial results in a month’s time on August 8.
