Evolution has launched its flagship live game show Crazy Time in Connecticut, further expanding its US iGaming presence.

The company describes Crazy Time as “the most successful live game show globally,” which has attracted millions of players since its global debut in 2020.

Its Connecticut launch is notable not just for the variety of content, but also because live game shows require far larger production investments than traditional blackjack or roulette.

Jacob Claesson, Evolution’s Chief Executive Officer, North America, said in the announcement:

“Crazy Time has captivated players across the globe with its immersive format and high entertainment value. Bringing it to Connecticut is an exciting step as we continue to expand across the US and deliver our world-class live casino portfolio to an even wider audience.”

Beyond Blackjack: Why This Launch Matters in Connecticut

While Evolution already streams live dealer blackjack and roulette from its Connecticut studio since its 2022 launch, Crazy Time represents a significant leap forward.

Game shows like Crazy Time are far more expensive to produce than traditional live-dealer tables. A blackjack setup requires a single dealer and a simple camera rig. By contrast, Crazy Time’s format demands elaborate stage design, multiple camera angles, green screen graphics, interactive bonus rounds, and a larger technical team.

For Evolution to bring a higher-costing format to Connecticut signals that it has confidence in the market. While Connecticut cannot rival iGaming states like New Jersey or Pennsylvania in population, the market continues to grow at a significant pace.

Evolution is betting that demand for its special live casino game shows will be strong enough to sustain its production.

What is Crazy Time?

Crazy Time is centered around a large money wheel, with a two-reel Top Slot above it that adds random multipliers. In addition to base spin prizes, the Top Slot offers four interactive bonus games — Cash Hunt, Pachinko, Coin Flip, and the flagship Crazy Time round — where multipliers can reach as high as 10,000×.

After its launch, the game quickly became Evolution’s most-watched live product. This led the company to introduce spin-offs such as Crazy Coin Flip, Crazy Pachinko, and Red Door Roulette.

Evolution has also localized it for individual markets, including Crazy Time Italia, which features Italian presenters and a customized studio environment.

Where It’s Available in the US

Evolution has gradually rolled out Crazy Time across most of the US states that have legalized online casinos (iGaming). Before Connecticut, the game had launched in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, and Delaware.

With the most recent launch, Crazy Time remains unavailable only in Rhode Island among the iGaming states. Evolution does not have a live dealer studio there yet and started offering slots by its subsidiaries only a few months ago.

Whether Evolution will launch a live dealer studio in Rhode Island is unknown. The state’s small population means the market could not be profitable. However, the state passed a law allowing its retail casinos to live stream to other states and even internationally. That could eventually persuade Evolution to bring live dealer games, including Crazy Time, to Rhode Island.

Some sweepstakes casinos, such as Stake.us, also offer Crazy Time. However, while available in many states, these platforms are unregulated and have faced increased scrutiny in recent months.

A Global Hit

Globally, Crazy Time has drawn millions of players, making it the “world’s #1 online live game show,” according to Evolution. Its appeal lies in blurring the line between casino play and entertainment television. That gives operators a high-engagement product that drives longer player sessions.

To meet demand, Evolution has built multiple studios in Europe, including those in Malta and Riga, and has recently opened its first Asian studio in the Philippines.

Philippines Studio & Regulatory Risk

The Cebu studio is Evolution’s first in Asia. It was designed to serve both the regulated Philippine market and operators across Asia and beyond. The studio has contributed to the company’s growth in the region, which accounts for Evolution’s largest market by revenue.

Yet, Asia also underscores the risks. In August, Evolution’s local partner in the Philippines, One Visaya Gaming Corp., had its gaming system administrator license revoked by PAGCOR, the country’s gaming regulator, for failing to comply with KYC requirements.

The suspension is unrelated to Evolution, and the company insists its B2B studio operations are unaffected. Still, the episode highlighted the vulnerability of live gaming infrastructure when regulators shift or partners fail to comply.
