The Georgia Southern Eagles and App State Mountaineers face off in a Sun Belt rivalry game tonight at Kidd-Brewer Stadium in Boone, NC. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The Mountaineers (4-4 SU, 4-4 ATS) are paced offensively by conference rushing leader Rashod Dubinion, who averages 94.5 rushing yards per game. The Eagles (3-5 SU, 3-4-1 ATS) lean more on an aerial attack under the direction of QB JC French, who’s tossed at least two TD passes in three straight games. Keep an eye on WR Camden Brown, too. He’s scored at least a TD in seven of eight games.

DraftKings is dealing App State as a 5.5-point home favorite with a total of 61.5. 66% of the spread handle and 76% of tickets are on App State at DraftKings.

Best Georgia Southern vs. App State Bet: Against the Spread

App State -5.5 (-112 at DraftKings)

Georgia Southern could be in for a long night and particularly on the ground. The Eagles give up an eye-popping 261.6 rushing yards per game. The Eagles own the worst run defense in America. They’ve also given up the most rushing TDs at 25. Dubinion should be in line for his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season.

Sophomore J.J. Kohl and LSU transfer AJ Swann traded snaps at QB for App State last time out in a 24-21 loss to Old Dominion. Swann threw for 140 yards and two TDs. Kohl tossed for 138 yards and a TD, but he was picked off twice.

Kohl’s best performance came in a 41-20 win over Georgia State when he threw for 309 yards and four TDs. WR Jaden Barnes leads App State with 445 receiving yards and six TD catches. Georgia Southern is also porous against the pass. All told, the Eagles have gone 0-4 on the road and surrendered an average of 42.5 points in those games.

There could be a beatdown coming in the Blue Ridge Mountains tonight. Lay the points with the Mountaineers.

Best Player Prop for App State

RB Rashod Dubinion OVER 80 Rushing Yards (+125 at DraftKings)

DraftKings offers alt rushing totals that you can “ladder” with progressively better odds offered for more yards. For example, Dubinion is +177 to have 90+ rushing yards and +247 to reach 100+ yards. Given just how bad Georgia Southern is against the run, all of these bets look viable and provide added value.

It is a bit concerning that Dubinion’s production has decreased over the past three games. He’s failed to surpass 80 yards in any of those tilts after going OVER that number in the first five games of the season. We’ll take a shot here at +125 against the worst rushing defense in the nation.

Best Player Prop for Georgia Southern

QB JJ French OVER 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-132 at FanDuel)

There’s a bit of added juice here, but it’s a solid play. As bad as Georgia Southern is against the run, App State is nearly as incompetent against the pass. The Mountaineers rank No. 125 nationally, allowing an average of 268.1 passing yards per game.

French has thrown for at least two TDs in his last three games and five of eight on the season. The Eagles will likely be playing from behind tonight, and French should continue his multiple-TD passing streak against a weak App State secondary.
