Online gaming boosts New Jersey revenues in April

Publishing revenue summaries for April, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reported a total gaming win of $214.4m in the month, a 1.3 per cent increase on the $211.7m recorded in April 2017.

Casino win remained largely flat at the state’s Atlantic City properties, climbing just $0.5m year on year, to $191.4m – a 0.3 per cent rise.

In contrast, online gaming win in New Jersey was $23m in April, a more than 10 per cent rise year on year.

For the year-to-date, the casino win amounted to $716.7m compared to $763.5m at the same point in 2017, a decrease of 6.1 per cent. Online gaming win to date in 2018 was up 15.5 per cent, to $92.6m.

The big winners in the bricks-and-mortar sector were Resorts, up 23.3 per cent to $17.2m in April 2018, and Golden Nugget, which gained 11.6 per cent year on year, posting win of $20.17m in the month.

Golden Nugget is also making much of the running online, with its internet business delivering a gaming win of $8.13m, up a whopping 51.2 per cent year on year.

Borgata lost significant ground offline, with its year-on-year casino win dropping more than $5m in April, down 9.1 per cent to $53.1m, although it remains the market leader in terms of overall revenue. Online win at Borgata performed well, climbing nine per cent year on year to to $4.56m
