The Malta Gaming Authority has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, bolstering collaboration between the two regulators.

Initially signed back in 2013, the renewed MoU demonstrates the commitment to cooperation by the MGA and AGCC, to which they share common values such as the prevention of crime, consumer protection and the protection of vulnerable persons against gambling addiction.

“The renewal of the MoU with the AGCC continues to reaffirm our shared commitment towards supervising a safe and responsible gaming ecosystem across the board,” commented Carl Brincat, CEO of the MGA.

Both the MGA and the AGCC also highlighted the need for cooperation between all international regulators across the gaming industry.

Such collaboration has been spotlighted by the industry several times over the past few months, particularly through a partnership between the Gambling Regulators European Forum and the North American Gaming Regulators Association in November.

UK Gambling Commission’s Chief Executive Andrew Rhodes also stated at the International Association of Gambling Regulators Conference in October that the gambling industry can achieve ‘better outcomes’ in regards to combating illegal gambling by working together.

Andrew Gellatly, Executive Director of the AGCC, added: “With this MOU, we look forward to continuing and strengthening our valued collaboration with the MGA, to the benefit of both players and stakeholders.”

At the end of January, Brincat will stand down from the position of CEO of the MGA and will be replaced by Charles Mizzi, who has been shadowing Brincat this past month to ensure a smooth transition.
