PointsBet and BetMGM have become the latest pair to unveil Iowa-based developments, after making online and mobile sports betting available state-wide via remote registration after the Hawkeye State ditched its on-property sign-up requirement.
The MGM Resorts International and Entain joint venture has made its moves alongside the Diamond Jo Casino, as the region becomes the eighth state in which BetMGM’s mobile app is available state-wide, joining Nevada, New Jersey, Colorado, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and West Virginia.
BetMGM’s integration with MGM Resorts’ M life rewards program allows users in Iowa the opportunity to redeem their gameplay for experiences at the firm’s properties nationwide, including Bellagio and MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Borgata in New Jersey, Beau Rivage in Mississippi and MGM National Harbor in Maryland.
“I can’t think of a better way to kick off the new year than by launching BetMGM in Iowa, a state well known for its passionate sports fans,” said Adam Greenblatt, BetMGM CEO.
“Our connection with MGM Resorts enables BetMGM users in the Hawkeye State to earn rewards, from hotel suites to dinners at award-winning restaurants, all while engaging in the excitement of our cutting-edge sports betting experience.”
Furthermore, sportsbook operator PointsBet has also made its mobile app and digital sports betting product available statewide as of January 1, 2021, after originally entering the state in August 2019 alongside the Catfish Bend Casino, located in Burlington.
“The state of Iowa continues to be a great priority for the PointsBet team, and we are fortunate to work alongside terrific partners in Catfish Bend Casino,” noted Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA CEO. “We both are tremendously excited for what is effectively a second launch of Iowa sports betting with remote registration now in play.
“The PointsBet mobile app and digital sports betting product is extremely fast and easy to use, features exclusive product features and betting options, offers the most bet types in the world across the four major US sports, and perhaps most importantly, is specifically tailored for the local sports fan. We believe the great folks in the Hawkeye State will love what PointsBet has to offer and certainly look forward to the interest and feedback to come.”
