David Mann: Swintt is taking ‘the crown’ in branded content creation

Making a foray into the world of branded content has really enabled Swintt to reach new demographics of slot players, according to David Mann

In a video interview with SBC at ICE London 2022, the Swintt Chief Commercial Officer dives into the world of branded content, shining a light on the developer’s latest title which features former professional footballer Vinnie Jones.

“In the title, Vinnie Jones has got a gang together and they’re planning to rob the crown jewels. There are four different environments that players can visit, with each one offering a unique feature.”

The four different environments, Mann told SBC, are four different pubs dotted around the east end of London: The Crown pub, The Bullseye pub, The Drunken Duck pub and Michael’s Whiskey Tavern.

Mann continued: “One environment, for example, features sticky wilds. Another has multiplier wilds. We found that this is just another way of engaging players and giving them something unique. One of the environments also has a nice bonus range where players can get multipliers and a higher number of free spins, with a mini game prior to the bonus round starting.”

When quizzed on the reasons why Swintt has ventured into the world of branded slots, Mann believes that working with celebrities can help broaden the appeal of particular titles. Although, this can come with its own set of challenges.

“Branded games have a certain appeal. There are a lot of players who identify with those particular types of games. There’s a lot of marketing that you can put behind branded games, and we want to be able to offer operators something a bit different. At Swintt, we think that we found a really special opportunity to engage with Vinnie Jones.

“But finding the right brand isn’t always easy; you have to be able to find something that is popular and something that people can really identify with.

“Given the nature of branded content, its costs and the subsequent revenue share deals, we also want to find something that we think will end up profitable not only for us, but also for the branded and licenced IP.

“As a company, we have a real vision and mission to be very philanthropic. We want to support good causes and raise money for charity. As many of you might know, part of the proceeds from this game will actually go to Vinnie Jones’ selected charity, Royal Brompton and Harefield trust. This is a cause that is very close to his heart.”
