Hacksaw eyes additional states after entering West Virginia via RSI

Hacksaw Gaming is looking to take its Rush Street Interactive collaboration across a host of legalised US online gaming jurisdictions after making its maiden entry into the country in West Virginia.

Following the receipt of a full supplier licence earlier in the month, what is billed as a “landmark agreement” will see the studio integrate its online slots suite via Light & Wonder’s OpenGaming platform.

Hacksaw Gaming’s maiden US venture is hailed as marking “a significant step forward” as part of a broader strategy to grow its international footprint.

West Virginia joins a number of certified jurisdictions that also includes MGA, UKGC, Romania, Greece, Netherlands, Latvia, Ontario, Italy, and Sweden.

“Today’s news represents a huge milestone for us,” explained Gabrielle Star, Hacksaw Gaming CCO.

“We’re overjoyed to make our long-awaited US bow with RSI’s BetRivers, one of the leading casino brands in the states, capping months of hard work behind the scenes.

“As one of the first few states to adopt a forward-leaning approach towards igaming, West Virginia is the ideal market to begin our US journey and we have no doubt that our extensive game library will resonate with its BetRivers players.

“This is just the beginning. We’ll be looking to explore more collaborative opportunities with RSI in our bid to become provider of choice for casino fans in West Virginia and across the country as more states liberalise their outlook on igaming.”

The content studio, founded in 2018 and live in more than 20 globally regulated markets, will first make its The Bowery Boys game available, which will be followed by flagship title Wanted Dead or a Wild.

During the weeks and months ahead an array of online slots will become available to RSI players, such as Toshi Video Club, Stack’em, Joker Bombs, Gladiator Legends, and Hand of Anubis.

Richard Schwartz, Rush Street Interactive’s CEO, added: “We are so pleased to extend our partnership with Hacksaw Gaming into the US, after our successful launch with them in Ontario last month.

“We are thrilled to further enhance our industry leading online casino portfolio and entertainment experience at BetRivers.com in West Virginia, by adding Hacksaw’s exciting mix of new and popular casino games.”

Earlier in the month, RSI voiced optimism about its future after achieving a positive adjusted EBITDA figure in the second quarter of 2023.

Schwartz noted that the increase in profitability was mainly driven by operational improvements as the midpoint of the operator’s full year guidance was raised by $5m.

Publishing its Q2 financials, the company declared $165.1m in revenue for the quarter, a 15 per cent increase when compared to the previous year (Q2 2022: $143.7m). Revenue also grew in comparison to Q1’s $162.4m.
