UK-based gambling company Midnite has been announced as the Official UK Betting and Casino Partner of the Snooker World Championship.
The Halo World Championship takes place at the iconic snooker venue, The Crucible, from 19th April to the 5th of May. Snooker’s 32 best players will look to dethrone reigning champion Kyren Wilson for a top prize of £500,000.
In a release, the two parties have promised a partnership that is “more than just a logo in the background.” Midnite Co-Founder Nick Wright commented: “We are dedicated to bringing fans closer to the game they love.”
“It doesn’t get any more intimate than the fan experience at the Crucible for the World Snooker Championship, where the sport’s most unforgettable moments are created,” he continued.
Midnite Promises More Than Traditional Sponsorship
The company has teased a series of “fan-first activities throughout the tournament” and hopes to have the brand “in the middle of more magical memories.”
Midnite joins a long list of gambling sponsors for snooker’s biggest event. Betting companies had an uninterrupted sponsorship stint between 2006 and 2022. 888.com signed a five-year deal in 2006 but pulled out after three. Betfred was the sponsor from 2009 to 2012, followed by Betfair in 2013, Dafabet in 2014, and Betfred again from 2015 to 2022.
For the past two years, online car retailer Cazoo has sponsored the tournament. Kindred Group’s Unibet sponsors the World Snooker Tour’s British Open.
Peter Wright, Chief Commercial Officer of WST, said: “We are thrilled to join forces with Midnite for the first time on our biggest tournament. They are an ambitious brand, committed to the user experience and to bringing fans together to enhance interaction using technology which pushes boundaries. Most importantly, they place the highest priority on having fun in a responsible way on their platforms.”
He continued: “They are excited to join our journey as a sport because, through the World Championship, we can offer massive exposure for Midnite’s brand on a global scale. We look forward to working with their team across the 17 days. There have been so many great moments at the Crucible, my own favourite is the last frame of the 2023 final when Luca Brecel won the title as it was incredible to see such a flamboyant young player bring the crowd to its feet with his style of snooker.”
The release states that a global audience of 500 million will watch the event across a multitude of broadcasters, including BBC, TNT Sports, Eurosport, WST Play, CCTV5, and “many other platforms worldwide.”
This marks Midnite’s most extensive sponsorship campaign to date. The company started as an esports-dedicated operator but has experienced vast growth since pivoting to operate under a traditional gambling model.
The company leverages its proprietary sportsbook and casino platform to offer a differentiated product. To date, it has raised over $35 million in funding.
