Drake continues to bet big with Stake despite a public fallout with the platform’s owners. The rapper laid down $300,000 on Jannik Sinner to win the US Open, but his history of betting could put the world no. 1 at risk of the ‘Drake curse’.

Drake posted the betslip on Instagram showing a bet of $300,000 on Sinner, which will return $507,000 if successful.

The Italian is the clear favorite at odds of 1.67 (-149) to win his second US Open title in a row following his success last year. Sinner faces compatriot Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter finals before a semi-final against either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Alex de Minaur.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic will play in the other semi-final, and the Spaniard is expected to come through to face Sinner in the final. Alcaraz is the second favorite at +150 to win his sixth Grand Slam and second US Open.

Drake Promotes Stake After Closing Kick Account

Drake continues to bet at Stake, and his Instagram features a link to the site, even after he complained that the company was refusing to allow him to withdraw funds.

He also closed his Kick account and said he will not livestream gambling at the online casino anymore. The reason for the fallout is not known, but the rapper has been heavily critical of Stake and Kick owners Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani.

There has been no public response by Craven or Tehrani to the abuse directed at them by Drake. The rapper called the Australian businessmen a snake and a goof in comments on Trainwreck’s livestream.

Will Drake Curse Strike Again?

A win for Sinner would be his fifth major title and second US Open. He has won three of the last four Grand Slams, only losing out to Alcaraz in the final of the French Open.

Drake does not have a successful track record of betting, however. In June, he revealed that he had lost $8 million gambling in a month. A post on Instagram showed he had wagered $125 million at Stake, resulting in the losses.

He accompanied screenshots of his account with a message saying: “Gotta share the other side of gambling… Losses are so fried right now. I hope I can post a big win for you all soon cause I’m the only one that has never seen a max these guys max once a week.”

The ‘Drake Curse‘ has been coined in the media due to his track record of big gambling losses. Some of his biggest losing bets include $1.2 million on Jake Paul to beat Tyson Fury and $1 million on the Toronto Maple Leafs to beat the Florida Panthers.

The curse has also extended to athletes taking pictures with the star. Several boxers, UFC fighters, and soccer players have taken a photo with Drake before going on to lose important matches.

In 2019, Italian soccer side AS Roma reportedly banned putting up images of the singer for fear of the curse striking. Fellow Italian Sinner will hope he is saved from the curse and can continue his winning streak at Grand Slams.
