Adelaide Casino overhaul kicks off

SkyCity Adelaide

The AU$330m upgrade to SkyCity‘s Adelaide Casino has begun ahead of a 2020 opening, reports local news outlet InDaily.

The upgrade and extension – which includes a new hotel and spa, gaming facilities, bars, restaurants and a refurbishment of the existing casino – will create up to 1,000 permanent jobs, with local engagement key the to scheme.

“Local participation requirements in the construction contract ensure we’re maximising the benefits of the expansion for South Australian contractors and suppliers,” said Luke Walker, general manager of the Adelaide Casino.

Walker said the existing facilities would be remodelled in the historic Railway Station “to match the high standards the new development will set, while protecting its special character which will remain intact”.
